I've heard that most are living paycheck to paycheck here.

But no, I have a year in cash savings for my not-cheap rent plus living expenses. Then I have my brokerage account with even more money if I needed to pull from there. And retirement is large too if I were really desperate.

But importantly, I have a safety net with my family. If I hit hard times I could move in with them. Many people don't have that.

Living paycheck to paycheck sounds like an improvement to my quality of life. Imagine making so much that you don't have to save up for anything and the security that more is on it's way so it doesn't matter if you spend it all by then.
