Lol I havent tried electronic stud finders - only used a magnetic one that finds the screws and if the finder gets caught up every now and then vertically chances are theres a stud there

Thats with Sheetrock though and only if its not totally metal heh

usually those old world outlet boxes can be next to a stud, if you take off the face plate you can look inside and see if theres a screw to the left or right

if its a metal box sometimes they have a flag to the left or right, itll be buried because of the wall but maybe you can see a piece of metal extending to the sides

there should be wiring right at the sides of the beams so just hope you get surface and not the edge.. wires dont be pressed up against the sheet rock, they only travel inside and are stapled to the side of the beam

not sure why those things wont go in, maybe theres concrete or brick and the wall is just there to look nice
