I understand the other position as well, but I feel it's got a lot to do with a fascination for knowing a trans persons genitals. Why would the label describe genitalia that may or may not have undergone medical procedures over how that person presents themselves every day. When you look at many trans men, you may not recognize them as trans at all. Because being a man is how they present themselves to the world.

To me I want to be able to visualize the person when I'm talking to them, and if they're presenting female, but male genitalia, whatever I don't care not my business. So, if someone says "I'm female" great, that helps me understand who I'm talking to. If someone says "I'm trans female", it... honestly doesn't matter to me, I just need the "female" part to visualize them, and instead it trips me up because then I need to flowchart it.

Same way I like to randomly know if someone is white, black, or whatever. Does it actually matter with who I'm talking to? No. But, I like to be able to visualize them, and that helps.
