Brachycephalic dogs are definitely prone to more breathing issues than other dogs but it depends how they were bred and keeping them at a healthy weight is very important. My pug just passed away last week, actually. 13 years old and never had breathing issues. He had normal airways, and a mildly elongated soft palate which is the cause for breathing issues in this breed. Its the ones that are severely elongated that have issues, which you see in bulldogs too. My vet described it as breathing through a straw. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
