The well, people were also biased in favour of defending it argument gets made every time theres a controversy and every time theres a genuine complaint those people cease to exist when the game actually comes out. Just look at the amazing swing in reactions to Gamespots 7/10 Cyberpunk review. If the points against TLoUII were valid, more people who played it would have come away with the issues that were causing the fuss.

I followed the leaks, and they wound up being entirely misrepresentative of the content of the game. Real content, but misunderstood. I have encountered people who played TLOUII and didnt like it, but not for the reasons that caused the controversy. Because most of them werent even accurate!

Lots of people did, they were just being grouped with the rest and not taken seriously!

I'm not saying everyone was at all, but let's not act like it wasn't a thing. Rarely have I seen fans of anything be so sensitive. It's not like the leaks were not accurate. Maybe some of it was, I remember some parts being unclear more than inaccurate, but most of all they were very misrepresentative as you said. But I've seen plenty of people not liking those parts even in context, perhaps because they were meant to be controversial, so they were never going get everyone on board to begin with, and most people are acting like those parts were universally like by people who played the game, and that's exactly the point I'm trying to make.
