To piggyback on what Tony was saying, even though people in this topic series seem to believe people are foolish for not realizing Biden saying "$2000 checks will go out immediately" meant "we will do $1400 checks to go along with the $600 dollar checks in a couple months", you have to admit it was equally as foolish to go with messaging that left people feeling like you lied to them, and furthermore, that there is absolutely no basis or study for the idea that people making under x money need stimulus but exactly a $2000 dollar one time payment is what they need, so none of this is smart and it is all just bad optics for Biden because what he is doing is satisfying nobody. The GOP members of congress is feeling lied to by the switch to no longer doing a 60 vote compromise bill, and the dem voters, especially in GA, now feel like you lied to them too. If nothing else, Warnock should come out in favor of new $2000 checks just because he is the one who is getting thrown under the bus the most here. Honestly I think that the $2000 being $600 + $1400 was pretty obviously always the intent, but that progressives smartly seized an opportunity to frame it as a walk-back.
