If I firmly believe that a stock is undervalued and will recover (maybe because there is a pandemic causing issues that won't last forever) then I might buy a stock with the idea that it will be worth something in a couple years. And it might vary a bit between now and then but I'm in it for the long hall because I'm confident in the eventual recovery effect. If someone wants to pay me to borrow that stock for a few months then that's basically free money if that same stock was just going to be collecting dust during that same time. --- ...
