It's just British slang for someone who thinks their tough.

I'm in my late 30's and the last time I got into a fight was in high school. Even the scary ass guys I knew growing up with haven't gotten into fights since they were kids either.

If you're experiencing "fighting all the time" outside of a sport then you need to find a better social circle.

Slang would be a saying. Fighting is fighting, fighting is not a slang. It's great that you haven't gotten in any fights, but why haven't you? Is it because you give in when somebody threatens you? Is it because you get intimidated by people who could dominate you? And most fights don't happen within a social circle, it's usually with a stranger
