There's no escape and you're just tortured for all eternity, but it's only for the truly irredeemable souls. Most evil people are sent to a place called Revendreth where they are also tortured for centuries and centuries, but the goal is to teach that person what they did wrong in their life. Eventually the process is complete and they're either transformed into the venthyr that work in Revendreth or they're sent back to the Arbiter, the being that decides where you deserve to go. On the other hand, they also have Bastion where the ostensible good guys seek to wipe out all individuality and erase all memories of your human life. Anyone who deviates from that path are considered to be impure and sent for reeducation in a place called the Citadel of Loyalty.
