I know that JRPGs often throw in some random and unexplained bosses at times (usually just because there hasn't been a boss for a while and they want to keep the pace), but FF9 is the only game I've played where they've done that as a final boss, and right after a fight that already felt like a final boss both in scope and in story terms, noless. --- ...
