Because although there are definitely scary parts of Detroit (and it's still considered the most dangerous city in America, according to various sources), people can always say that they'd just stay on the safer side of the city. By saying "the hood", though, you eliminate this safety net and force people to understand that you're talking about a pointblank dangerous neighborhood. Yeah. As someone who also grew up in Detroit, I think TC was probably only thinking of his lived experience and not considering that Detroit has come a long way in the past decade or so. Still, there are indeed dangerous parts that you definitely wouldn't want to be in at 1-3 in the fucking morning. --- (taps mic) Is this thing on? ... Copied to Clipboard! |
