Because she's female

Sexism is 100% an issue in this country and in politics, but I question the degree that it factored into her losing. She won the popular vote by 5 million+ votes, after all.

I think people were tired of legacy presidents (12 years of Bush, and the 8 years of Bill Clinton, followed by two intense presidential bids by Hilary in 2008 & 2016, not to mention another bid from another Bush in 2016), and Trump had a way of suckering people in with his stupid nickname of Crooked Hilary, during a time when her name was in the news a lot during that time for the email controversy. People are stupid and easily swayed by stuff like that.

Sexism had to have played some role in her loss, but I dont think it was the factor by any stretch.
