healthcare and college is corrupt and in desperate need of reform, but devil's in the details - politicians are so corrupted by lobbying that things are seldom if ever implemented the way people think they should or will be

also the question of who's in the bargaining seat with respect to pricing - if it's education or healthcare institutions, prices will bloat (as has happened in education already due to direct and indirect subsidies); if it's govt, potential underfunding or misallocation resulting in underhanded cost-cutting practices on the part of health institutions - except it's shouldered onto taxpayers rather than patients

not inherently opposed to single-payer approaches to such though, if it comes with meaningful and constructive reforms esp. addressing factors driving price inflation to begin with

either way, hybrid system a la singapore would be best
