IMO Bond needs to go away for a while. The series has become the focus of a silly culture war.

whoever is chosen to be bond there will be unhappy people and box office whiplash.

The people that want a black Bond don't watch the movies in the first place. This has been demonstrated time and time again every time characters are made specifically to appease the woke crowd and then the game or movie ends up bombing. The people complaining have no actual interest in the product, they just want to stick it to white guys by ruining things they like since they want to blame white guys for everything that is wrong in the world.

Making a white Bond won't effect movie ticket sales at all. There will just be whining on Twitter. Race swapping a 50+ year old character, that is based on real life people, will effect movie ticket sales. I mean ffs, just make a black 00 as a sidekick for a movie or two. In the entire franchise (not counting No Time to Die since it isn't officially out yet) we have only ever seen one other 00 besides Bond. They can make another 00 character to team up with for the movie, and who doesn't become the villain.
