We didn't wipe out the board completely because it would make moderation of posts on the board impossible. The board was first simply locked down to keep the content accessible for the moderation staff. Since we didn't really have a protocol for such things, our tools to lock it down weren't perfect, so users could still be invited in. We'll be working on our CB tools in case something like this ever happens again in the future.
