Not sure there's any way that the negotiations wouldn't be heavily pulled towards conservative ideals given they are the ones with all the power. I really don't think "Biden's the reason the deals are more conservative" is a reasonable stance.

Democrats were making bolder demands before reports of Biden putting his weight behind the more conservative options. The report literally states it's what gave Democrats confidence in backing off their demands, even citing members of both parties confirming this. But if you know something the NYT doesn't go ahead and give us the scoop.

Biden's entire history in the Obama years was to undercut Democrats and offer the farm to someone he calls a good friend:Mitch McConnell. This is just history repeating itself.
