I always considered when she touched the lightsaber and had a full-on rush of visions while doing so a sudden connection and mild understanding of the force in that moment. Maybe it's left to interpretation, or I don't take sci-fi that entirely seriously but that's what I took away from it and that moment in the film. Her reaction during that scene seemed like it was an overwhelming rush of information that scared her away initially, before dwelling on what it meant.
