They weren't just lazy and didn't try to remove the charges, they were told by the banks that it was likely fraud and got caught up with the time it takes for a bank to check the legality/authenticity of charges to a card and by the time they heard back 60 days had passed. The story literally says this. Anyone defending it and saying she somehow "deserves" this for something that should be a minor misstep as a parent is being ridiculous.
