Trump isn't really one for bold new ideas. His style is to make only small changes to actual operations when running something while devoting a lot of attention to making sure he's getting a good bargain in deals. And he has a very robust system of deflecting blame and taking credit.

A large portion of Trump's 2016 campaign was pretending to be a bold populist: setting term limits for Senators, saying things like everyone would get healthcare, ending the wars, draining the swamp. Of course it was all bullshit, but he pretended to be to the left of Clinton on some key issues like this. I guess to be fair he did argue against minimum wage. That's a pretty far right idea!

2020 he just campaigned on how the Dems want a communist takeover of America or whatever nonsense like a typical Republican, but being a fake populist is likely what got him elected in these swing states where policies such as NAFTA helped decimate the middle class.
