For it to be entrapment, a police officer has to request someone to do something illegal - and in some circumstances have it be something they otherwise wouldnt normally do, as far as Im aware - for all entrapment scenarios. They also dont have to say theyre a cop.

30 seconds of googling turned up cases where the show functionally screwed up prosecutions because of its publicity and the way the show handled everything.

the problem is the show is functionally an alternative form of cops. i dont know how it used to run or how a new version would run now, but turning the whole investigation into a tv show is only going to negatively impact any case they film.

but reality tv makes money and hansen likes money so whatever...
