JimmyFraska 11/25/20 6:04:40 PM #5: | The Declaration of Independence literally refers to us as the united "States of America". The States of America. Not the "United States of America". Referring to our government as the "United States" only happened once the Constitution was written. It refers to the government and its capital in Washington DC. If you live outside of DC, you are not in the US, you are only its citizen living outside of the literal territory. Most of us live in the different "States of America" but are citizens of the "United States" and subject to it. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
