Weird that's the capital Tallahassee was in the middle between Jacksonville and Pensacola when the state was young and kind of just north Florida and people couldn't drive or fly. Then population started growing and eventually exploded in South Florida and it doesn't make sense and is a pain for people that work in state politics. There have been attempts to move it to Orlando which makes more geographic sense but they haven't gone anywhere. It is like the deep south though.
