The entire team needed to be rebuilt and this isn't just an overreaction. During the SB season the Pats lost a lot of offensive pieces like Amendola, and Cooks and BB tried to trade Gronk but couldn't. That should have been the year we started looking at tight ends in the draft but he opted to start the rebuild on defense which is fine, but he continued that into 2019 and this year, both years with a ton of offensive skill position choices.

Our D is old, and lost a few pieces like Van Noy and Collins and Hightower is getting up in age and probably hangs it up next year if he even decides to come back from opt out. The McCourty twins probably retire next year as well, and Gilmore isn't getting paid so he's gone too. Chung was washed late last season but he got a replacement for him this year so that safety position should be fine.

Thuney is probably gone, and Cannon too but we got some ok replacements for them in Herron and Onwenu but the OL group might not be as stout as previous years since we lost coach Scarnecchia to retirement.

Yeah the team is in a multi year rebuild and it does not help that we missed on the Microsoft Michel and Nkeal Harry picks. And don't let casual Pats fans tell you Michel was worth his first round pick because we won the SB. He ran behind a probowl FB and Trent Brown that could bench press Aaron Donald and Suh in his sleep.
