You aren't riding around in powerful military vehichles feeling weak and powerless and ordinary. Isekai wouldn't enhance monster hunter but it could at least be harmless and mostly forgotten after the intro. Maybe it's because actual monster hunter has no villain characters because the villain is always a monster and humans are pretty much all on the same side doing good things and you can't make much of a story about that. Could easily have turned the lore of the world into a movie though with the old kingdom, the engineered monsters, and the black dragon war that destroyed it all.
