There's no way to exaggerate this. This really is the end of America.

RBG really was the last line of defense against Trump and his plan to turn America into Nazi Germany with an oligarchy. The Democrats do NOT have the power to block Trump from replacing her and thus turning the Supreme Court into his golden ticket to do literally anything he wants. Including invalidating the entire election.

RBG did not fail us. We failed RBG.

And I would just like to say FUCK YOU to the universe. You see, it's actually my 33rd birthday. And RBG dying while Trump was still in office was my greatest fear of all.....

Fuck this shit.
This is hyperbolic, and also basically self-flagellation. RBG can simultaneously be a brilliant and inspiring jurist and also have endangered her legacy by not stepping down sooner: that last part is most certainly not on us.

What this does mean is that the broad systemic issues in our government are going to get worse, potentially much worse. The question before all of this now is this: what is to be done?
In the immediate term, it is vital that Senate Democrats are signaled in no uncertain terms that they should go as far as possible to block any appointment before the election. This will require action in the streets as well as ringing their phones off the hook and flooding their inboxes and mailboxes.

They'll probably disappoint us, because, let's face it: the Democrats have so far failed to grasp how high the stakes are.
And that must be the launch-point for further action.
