Years back, a guy murdered a cop in the place I lived at the time, and it turned out that he had decided to go on a killing spree after murdering his wife. Nothing to do with retaliation against cops specifically. Actually I think I remember reading somewhere that cops getting ambushed isn't all that uncommon (I think them getting killed at traffic stops is more common? Can't remember...). I'd look and see if I can find that data again but eh... This happened in Los Angeles, right? Could be gang-related, I suppose.
