His answer basically was "It looked like it was probably justified but there's still information we don't know. I'll have a better idea when the investigation is finished and we know all the details of what happened.". That is a completely reasonable stance. Trump has said plenty of dumb things. This isn't one of them. Stop trying to make something out of nothing. That was his usual limp wristed statement whenever he's pressed about something.
