The first half has a bunch of dumb shit like the computer who wont tell where the winning ticket is or the person who is kidnapped for the golden ticket. Its like what the fuck is that shit get to the factory already. Its a necessary setup... you sit through witnessing the soul-crushing poverty & squalor Charlie lives in so the contrast to exploring an otherworldly fantastical candy factory is all the more rewarding.
