When you say magic, is it stuff that has direct tangible impact, or is it just "spiritual"?
I mainly think of the modern Thelemic and now post-Thelemic accepted definition of using your will to affect change upon the universe. I know people into witchcraft and it's not really my thing but I think all the rituals and materials used in various schools of magic are about attaining a state of mind clear and strong enough and in tune with everything to cause change to happen. Whether that's a grand ceremony or masturbation combined with thought or grinding up some herbs, it all involves belief and conviction.

My own magical experiences went very wrong but I think I wasn't focused enough, I got what I wanted but it didn't work out and I paid for it. So now I'm mainly interested in reading the experience of others and learning, but eventually I'll dabble again.
