Prove yours? After all, it's easier to prove a positive than a negative. And you're effectively arguing that billions of people from every region in the entire world have actively voiced a negative opinion on the subject. So evidence should apparently be easy for you to provide?

But answer me sincerely - do you really think the average poor person in China or India gives a single solitary fuck what he says or thinks? Sure, their governments might, but the majority of the people aren't going to care unless he does something that specifically affects them in a direct and meaningful way. And people in more rural or less technological areas (as well as places where information is more directly controlled or restricted) aren't really going to have the information to form an opinion about him.

Mexico and Canada have strong opinions because they're the most influenced by US policy. Europe tends to have opinions because Europe has opinions about everything. Most of the rest of the world... not so much. There've been polls that imply Eastern Europe tends to be relatively neutral to outright positive towards him, and Asian countries outside of China tend to be fairly high (at one point, he had higher approval ratings in Japan than he did in the US, something skirting towards 80% approval).

And in at least some polls that measure disapproval rather than asking people if they specifically approve of someone (which is a more accurate measure of what we're talking about here anyway), he's never really been as bad as the Internet would lead you to believe (even in the US, he barely breaks more than 50% negative most of the time, and his global numbers tend to hover closer to 40%).

The problem is, the only opinions people in the US tend to pay attention to are ones from Canada and Western Europe. And those are the places where people are most vociferously negative. Doubly so if you're only hearing those opinions from people on the Internet, where most public social messaging sites tend to skew strongly left regardless.

Like it or not, the entire world isn't united by hatred for the orange goblin. And believing that everyone hates him is why people got blindsided the LAST time he got elected... and may provide an incredibly rude awakening for a lot of people in a few months when he might be able to manage getting elected again.

It's easy to go "Oh, everyone intelligent who's paying attention hates him, and anyone who supports him is an idiot", but that doesn't really SOLVE anything. That sort of complacency is what makes things like this possible in the first place.

now THIS is a PO post

you make a lot of good points
