Topic | I think the XBox Series X launch day might be a disaster. |
MeIon Bread 08/18/20 5:49:25 AM #1: | People denouncing it on the internet; poor launch line-up, with no Halo; people not wanting to go out and buy the console anyway, due to the coronavirus; Microsoft trying to put a good face on it all, and making a bad situation worse; no lines outside stores, just people strolling in; folk who do actually buy the XBox being disappointed; the mainstream media completely ignoring the event, with no high profile coverage whatsoever, just silence; technical problems; Nintendo and Sony gloating on Twitter; many people in the general public, even gamers, not even being aware of the launch; overall, only a few tens of thousands of units sold on launch day. So - what do you think, CE? Is this an accurate prediction? Based on various factors, I would say this is reasonably accurate. Don't misunderstand. I'm not some mindless XBox basher. I own an XBox 360, and it's one of my favourite consoles. The 360 has an excellent library of games, and I've had a LOT of fun over the years. But, when the XBone came out, I just...wasn't that enthusiastic. Of course, sometimes it takes a while for a console to really get going, but even after years, the XBone still strikes me as a pretty poor console. Something went wrong with Microsoft's philosophy at some point. IMHO, I think it was a combination of becoming unheathily obssessed with graphics, not lining up enough third party support, and, for a while, pushing Kinect REALLY hard. You know, that last thing...I used to work in a video game store, and people would come in pretty much every day, and ask if we had the console without Kinect. And I don't blame them. What do you think of my predictions for launch day, then? --- Sunhawk's main alternate account. I'm just a little bit caught in the middle, life is a maze and love is a riddle. ...
