The bizarre requirement to fund retirement of employees who aren't even alive yet, combined with a trend towards less mail volume as junkmail and bills move online, and UPS and FEDEX gaming the system to use the post office as a cheap "last mile" parcel handler, has screwed USPS over hard.

Okay, let's start with getting rid of said pension requirement and all the other weird, relatively recent strangleholds that came with it (like forbidding the sale of any product other than mail and parcel service)

If that's not an option, then the USPS is fucked and we might as well celebrate our stupidity in ruining it
