I like both, but generally prefer dogs and dogs seem to instinctively love me. Some cats like me, whereas nearly all dogs like me (I say "nearly" but can't think of one that doesn't). I currently have a dog, and would love to have a cat too, if I only could know how my dog would handle a cat.

My dog would probably go nuts over a cat and be in its face, risking annoyance and scratches from the cat, which it doesn't seem fair to subject my dog to if I can help it. I certainly couldn't hold it against the cat, who is simply defending itself.

Some of my friends have cats, so I guess I could just try to see how she does around them. I'm pretty sure the last time she was around them, she went nuts and was barking and yelping all over the place.

Training opportunities, I suppose.
