It would have gone a lot smoother if Trump didn't ignore advice from health experts on how to handle the pandemic. It would have gone a lot smoother if Trump didn't repeatedly downplay the severity of the pandemic. Trump as recently as the past couple weeks said he still thinks the virus is magically going to go away. Trump is actively contributing to spreading the virus by having in-person rallies.
