It's a horrible rationalization, and I would call out woman that tried to use that BS. She's such a good friend, and shes always there for you, so you want to pay her back by fucking her and her boyfriend? That's total bullshit. You can't expect to live out your sexual fantasies if you can't even be honest with your partner about them. It's not a favor, and it's something your want to do, or you wouldn't even consider it

The friend obviously thinks of you as more than friend, and she puts up with all your stupid shit because she wants more. So now I know I can't trust her, and she's probably going to see my as an obstacle if I say no.

The problem with this scenario is that this just isn't how you bring up group sex. The other guy is right, your partner should already know your response, because this is something that should come up and be discussed hypothetically. You don't plan it first, and then ask. That's a good way to make someone feel like you are doing things behind their back.
