If you sell for a loss on Ameritrade, even if it's a tiny one, they make you wait for funds to settle. But if you sell a winning trade, again, even a tiny win, you can immediately use those funds on something else. Not waiting for the settlement period is why I like margin trading as long as you carefully calculate risk. I just wonder if every broker has these rules or if it's only a TDAmeritrade thing.
