Perhaps they would have gone up anyway, but the fact of the matter is places where min wage increased drastically have had a much larger increase in cost of living than in the past, and in almost every situation, the cost of living increase has been far more severe and detrimental, then the bonus to the min wage (especially when you take into account the higher amount of taxes being paid on the additional income.

There has been no observed substantial increases in cost of living with previous minimum wage increases.

We need minimum wage increases because keeping wages stagnant is not preventing prices from going up. You would need an unconstitutional assault on corporations to address this in any manner besides a minimum wage.
