Their death rate has steadily been under 2 per million each day since the beginning of June. The US on the other hand has had 7.36 Deaths per million as recently as June 26th.

In the last two weeks, US deaths per million have increased by 37. At this rate, even if Belgium experiences zero more deaths, it would take 22 weeks (around mid-January of 2021) for the US to "catch" Belgium in terms of deaths per capita. This also assumes that all of the recent mitigation measures (masks almost everywhere, re-lockdowns by many places, etc.) have zero effect and that US deaths per capita do not improve at all for the next six months.
