Unfortunately the boss made the rest of the kitchen staff cover my job as well as their own jobs that shift instead of actually stepping in, so I wasn't popular with the employees there after that.

It weird that they were mad at you instead of the boss... You can only do so much. That sort of reminds me of another job I had. Only because of the works days, though my problem was different.

I worked at a Subway in Wal-Mart. A couple days, my boss ask me to work in his other Subway in the gas station. Eventually, I started working there every Saturday. And then he stopped giving me shifts at the other one. So, I was only working one day a week and it was Saturday. He gave me off one Saturday, I got a new number during the week, and he was never able to call me to give me my next work day. I went like 2-3 months later to get my final paycheck. I had forgetting about it. But some ladies (who I never met) knew my grandma and sister, and told them about my check still being there...

Another problem with the job is that I worked with this one douche who made me do all the dishes all day. I dont mind doing some, but I wasnt a dishwasher. I liked making sandwiches. And I hated dishes... So, I was fine with leaving... Plus, the douche was super into the rules... So, yeah...

Yeah, this was pre-2000 so not a ton of options for portable games (think nintendo had one back then), but it was mainly me just being work concious like you said. Also I was in the military (not that many years before) and your kinda expected to wait alot (especially when I was working as a courier for awhile), and certainly not allowed to read etc while reading.

Now of course that has changed and people literally look for jobs like that so they can game/read etc. Seriously no joke I pretty much wanted to off myself because that job was killing me. I am, and have never been, good at just sitting around doing nothing. It's why I decided to leave the AF in fact after the gulf war ended. I left and immediatly went to a vocational school to become an electronic tech (9 months, 8 hours a day m-f) while working graveyard at Carl's Jnr (40 hours a week). Was much more work/effort than the military, but I was constantly busy (also 50% off the food at Carl's Jnr!!).

It's why I also hate jails, I consider being stuck in a cell the ultimate torture and would rather die than ever be put in such a situation even for a few months. It's made the last 6 months not fun at all as well, even though I have games/tv shows and movies, and books to read. It could be worse, but it's still not a ton of options and I do get bored doing the same things day after day.

I figured it was a while ago, which is why I suggest maybe a book or something... And even after all the hurry up and waiting for the military, I figured why waste my time doing nothing while waiting. Haha. Though, we could read while waiting in the military... As long as it was study material...

If you want a job in the Air Force thats constantly working, you gotta get a maintenance job on a shitty aircraft. Then youre constantly working...

I can do the same thing everyday to a degree. I could play games everyday as long as I have multiple different games. Or watch YouTube if they are different youtubers and videos...
