Are you ending turns and trying to block damage in wrath stance? It makes you deal double damage (which is great) but also makes you take double damage, so if you're gonna leave some enemies that are attacking still alive you better be prepared to eat a big hit. fortunately most enemies tend to not attack every single turn which gives you some chance to end in wrath stance without getting blasted for it. alternatively, if you kill everything, the fight ends and they can't hit you back

I've gotten stuck in wrath a time or two but that's generally not the problem.

Generally the problem is one enemy is gonna deal 11 damage, another is gonna deal 16, and I've got one or two defend cards in my hand and that's it.

Coupled with insultingly bad defensive options like whatever that coin one is that deals like 1 damage and gains like 2 block, are you kidding me.
