| DarkRoast 07/14/20 1:10:55 PM #8: | Positivity rate = number of positive tests / total number of tests given (in percentage) Whether or not that rate is 100% or 10%, the total number of positive tests doesn't change. The "Positivity rate" is skewed because most places don't report negative tests (because it's really not that useful) It's like saying 100,000 positive cases and 20,000 negative tests were reported. Making the rate 83%. If there were actually 200,000 negative tests, that rate would be 33%, but there would still be 100,000 new cases of COVID19.
