This movie came out right after the Challenger disaster. As you can imagine, that made marketing difficult to say the least. The movie had been filmed right before the Challenger explosion so it's not like they were intentionally trying to capitalize on the disaster. But I'm not sure everyone say it that way. Critic Roger Ebert gave it a one and half star rating, saying that "Our thoughts about the Space Shuttle will never be the same again, and our memories are so painful that SpaceCamp is doomed even before it begins." Ebert trashed the film just because of the Challenger disaster. It's too bad. I loved it as a kid. --- END OF LINE ... Copied to Clipboard! |
