It depends on whether there really is immunity after exposure or a viable vaccine can be produced, or if people can become reinfected or the disease can mutate fast enough to bypass immunity/vaccines. If it's either of the latter it may never go away without drastic international action (such as complete worldwide lockdown). If there is immunity, it's important to remember that the Spanish Flu pandemic lasted about 2 years. It probably won't be until well into late next year before things get back to normal.
