For example, they think that being transgender is totally fine, just a person born in the wrong body, when it took me an embarrassingly long time to think the same thing. Same. At their age I was throwing around the F word pretty freely. I only really seen transgenders in humorous situations on tv, so I just thought of them as good joke material. I was pretty garbage as a teen. I couldn't cuss in the house and didn't do blue jokes in front of my family, so it never came up and no one ever corrected me. I just did it around other ignorant people. Ironically, it was also tv that helped fix my views tho. As I got older I got more compassionate and into hearing others struggles, and tv was a way to connect to that. I've always lived in bumfuck Michigan, so me actually running into anyone in the community wasn't likely. Met awesome gay people since tho.
