The down playing of the blight that black people face in this nation underscores the mind set that if black people should just be happy, talking about is just starting up trouble. Dude, what do you expect? We live in areas with high crime rates. In fact, I am currently going through a personal dilemma where a couple neighborhood kids are asking me to buy them a bike pump and my parents are accusing them of being drug runners when I mentioned I'm looking for a bike pump for them. This is my biggest problem with BLM and people calling out cops. There's always a consequence to an action. People think we can have the gangsta culture sitting high and mighty in black culture but feel it in no way influences how we're collectively perceived and how we treat ourselves. This simply isn't true. If we focus on uplifting our community and holding ourselves to a specific collective standard, so many other things will fall into place, including the problem of police brutality. --- ...
