In the US, they teach the revolutionary war from grade school through high school. Even then, you only need very basic facts. The US won the war. George Washington led the army. King George was the King of England. If you didn't know those things, they were pretty easy to infer by how they were presented. I watched it with a person who grew up in Ecuador and she knew more about it than I did. If you have a basic US education (and even without that for most cases), you can follow what happens. Did they talk too fast?
