Topic | Bubonic Plague has resurfaced in China for first time in centuries |
captpackrat 07/08/20 1:34:02 PM #8: | All three forms of plague, bubonic, pneumonic, and septicemic, are caused by the same bacteria, Yersinia pestis. Without treatment, bubonic plague has a 50% fatality rate; pneumonic and septicemic plague are nearly 100% fatal without treatment, however all three forms respond very well to treatment with common antibiotics such as streptomycin, doxycycline, or ciprofloxacin. Bubonic and septicemic plague are usually transmitted from the bite of an infected flea while pneumonic plague is usually the result of airborne transmission, which can be easily prevented with surgical masks. --- Minutus cantorum, minutus balorum, Minutus carborata descendum pantorum. ...
