That's fine with me, and would even be ideal, as long as they also get paid a fair wage. I didn't propose that because I doubt people would go for that. When you talk about improving conditions for imprisoned people and talk about how that would make prison a much more useful institution for the people there and free people, people usually short circuit. They freak out about how we shouldn't be paying for bad people when we don't pay for good people. And that never works out to helping free people, it always means we take away something from imprisoned people.
I cant remember which country it is, Sweden i think, where their prime directive is rehabilitation and i think their crime rate is quite low in comparison to the US. I dont know if they have the best prison system in the world but i think thats what we should be aiming for. Youre right that people would just see the comfy rooms and lose their shit. I think people outside of prison should be helped a lot more than they currently are as well
