I was second in line at the self-check check out at Target. Fat Karen (FK) was ahead of me. She wasn't wearing a mask, because of course she wasn't. After five minutes, I noticed there was a cash only machine directly in front of us. It had a big sign that said "CASH ONLY," FK couldn't have missed it. Since I was paying in cash, I walked past her and starting scanning my items.

FK: "Why did you cut in front of me?!?"

Me: "Oh I'm sorry, go ahead. I didn't think you were paying in cash."

Me: *Walks back behind her*

FK: "No go ahead. I just don't know why you would cut in front of me."

Me: "Are you paying in cash?"

FK: *Silence*

Me: "Are you paying in cash?"

FK: "Yes."

Me: "Okay, I'm sorry. Go ahead."

FK: "No forget it. Just go."

Me: "Okay, thanks Karen."

Me: *Walks back to machine*

Employee: "I'm sorry about that."

Me: *shrugs and shakes head*

I was going to say something to her when I was leaving, but she was on her phone, so I just tossed my receipt in her trash bin.

In retrospect, I really wish I had called her out on her bull shit and insisted that she use the cash only register and then stepped ahead of her to wait for the next cash or card one.
