I drove through the heart of South Dallas after I've finished an job early and realized that I had extra time to get a fresh fade for my sister's wedding way later that day.

Immediately I spot some barbershop that wasn't packed and I entered there looking like Dexter during the last scene of the show.

I swear to God, I've never been mean-mugged as much as I did there in my life. Even the children were giving me perplexed stares. One of the barbers even had one of their buddies sit at one of the unoccupied seats, and resumed talking to them like I wasn't around.

I didn't get mad, I simply sat at the chair closest to the door while looking at my work truck to make sure no prying hands were near.

A few moments went by and he says:

"Do you have an appointment?"

I answered that I didn't. I was a walk-in but that I would wait until he was completely done with him. ('-' )

"Well, come up here and have a seat."

I replied, "Thanks."

"So watchu want like a buzz-cut or somethin?"

I go 'Naw, I want a taper-fade with 2 on top, and a 1.5 on the beard.'

He didn't say anythinh after that, and it was a deafening silence for what seemed like an eternity, but only 4 minutes went by.

After a while everyone resumed their conversations or whatever and pretty much stopped giving me looks until my head was done.

I paid and left. Don't remember if I left him a tip or not, but that cut was clean as fuck (I'm talking no missed stray hairs and even lines). I probably did tip.

That was one of the most awkward cuts I've gotten in my life so far.
